This performance opens with Peter and the Wolf, a symphonic fairy tale composed by Sergei Prokofiev in 1936. A long-time children's favorite, the story is about a young boy named Peter who outsmarts a dangerous Wolf to save his animal friends. Act Two features excerpts from Coppélia, a romantic, comedic ballet from 1870 featuring choreography by Saint-Leon and a score by Delibes. The Manassas Ballet Theatre Orchestra accompanies the program.
