This one-day workshop simplifies the technology for beginners and intermediates who want to use their phones for everyday photography and to express creativity. A smartphone camera is a powerful tool for everyday photography, but its ever-changing technology can be challenging to understand and use. Gain confidence in your ability to take an interesting photo using your smartphone. Thuy Senser, an adjunct professor in George Mason University’s School of Art and Design, will teach basic composition; how to bring energy into the frame; photo editing; and more fundamental techniques. Participants must bring a smartphone with a working camera. See dates for which device to bring.

This one-day workshop is open and FREE to Veterans, Servicemembers, military family members, and military caregivers ages 18 and older. Space is limited. Registration for this workshop opens mid-January 2026.

Please reference our information sheet for details, including minimum age requirement and community policies regarding Veterans and the Arts on-site workshops. More information about the on-site workshop will be provided to registrants by email.
