George Williamson’s presentation will begin with some history about organ transplants. He will talk about his first heart attack, the events that led up to his heart transplant, and the post-transplant lifestyle changes necessary to deal successfully with daily life. Some of the challenges include diet, daily medication management, post-transplant physical rehabilitation, and managing relationships with medical professionals. Lastly, he will talk about the importance of heart donation and the pressing need for organ donors.
George Williamson and his wife Katheryn moved to Manassas in 1993. He is a certified public accountant and is currently employed by the FDIC in Arlington, Va. He received his heart transplant January 15, 2018 at the INOVA Heart Institute in Fairfax, Va. He plays golf regularly and he has been a member of the Manassas Host Lions Club since 2003.
